The road that connects Perugia with Assisi is historically the pilgrimage route since the early Middle Ages that connects the capital with the most important spiritual tourist center in Umbria.

MARCHING FOR PEACE IN BASTIA UMBRA

Since 1961, on the initiative of the philosopher Aldo Capitini, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world have marched from Perugia to Assisi to promote respect for the most important universal values and rights. The “Perugia-Assisi” Peace March crosses the Municipality of Bastia from Ospedalicchio to half a mile in a flat stretch about 7 km, passing through the historic center.

The straight road that connects the historic center with the basilica of S. Maria degli Angeli constituted the privileged route for the walks of the bastioli, and favored the settlements of commercial and residential expansions. Along the way, countless credit institutions, insurance companies, professional offices, bars, restaurants and shops, as well as prestigious residential buildings and villas overlook.

The planting of many trees, mostly sea pines, give the characteristic Garden City appearance.
