The ancient church in Costano Castle is dedicated to the Holy Cross, in harmony with that of Bastia in 1293. The feast takes place on the 3rd of May,according to ancient tradition.
On the entrance wall is a 14th-century fresco of the Madonna and Child with Angels and on the back wall, a crucifixion by the Foligno school with St Roch and another unidentified saint. The dying Christ on the Cross is surrounded by angels of the Passion.
The altar mensa consists of a stone slab that tradition says was the lid of the sarcophagus in which the body of Bishop Saint Rufino was kept.
